All-Levels Flow

Akasha Studio's All-Level Flow classes are hatha and vinyasa based yoga classes sequenced to connect with the breath, open and strengthen the body, and calm and focus the mind.

The personal style of each teacher makes every class unique with modifications provided for the beginner to the advanced practitioner.   The aim of these classes is to challenge each student towards a safer yet deeper level of practice wherever you are on your path.

Please notify your teacher of any illness, injury, or sensitivities prior to practice.

Yin Yoga

Yin Yoga is a complementary yoga practice to the more dynamic and invigorating yoga styles that are predominant today.  Some call it the “other half of yoga.”

In Yin Yoga, floor postures are held passively for several minutes in order to access a safe and positive ‘stress’ on the deep layers of connective tissue in the body.  Physically, Yin Yoga restores and maintains the natural mobility of the joints, primarily between the navel and the knees.  Energetically, Yin Yoga opens the body’s meridian system, which enhances the body’s energetic flow and supports emotional equilibrium.

As this practice emphasizes stillness and silence, Yin Yoga prepares both the body and the mind for deeper experiences in meditation.

Hatha Flow

An empowering and transformative practice that offers a dynamic flow of gentle rhythm of movement, links postures to breathe to revitalize the body. Students learn to focus inward, connect with inner strength and enter a meditative state that awakens self-compassion and clears the mind. Some postures are held longer to cultivate more heat enabling the body to release and shift deeply rooted tension, ultimately creating more ease in your body and your life. All are welcome. Posture modifications are offered to meet you where you are.

Yin & Restorative Yoga

Akasha Studio's Yin & Restorative Yogs is a hybrid of Yin and Restorative Yoga.  Based on teacher sequencing and theme of the class, this class can vary as far as degree of yin and restorative postures.

You get the best of both worlds in very passive practice.  Great class for beginners and experienced practitioners alike!

Prenatal Yoga (Prenatal Yoga is currently on hold and to keep an eye out for a return in the late summer)

Congratulations on your pregnancy!

Akasha Studio's Prenatal Yoga classes explore safe postures (asana) that are suitable for all stages of pregnancy.  You will learn ways to support your changing body, in the company of others who are also having a similar experience!

Yoga is highly beneficial during pregnancy and can help reduce many of the physical discomforts that are often experienced; such as back pain, swelling in the legs and feet, digestive and sleep issues, etc.  Yoga has been shown to also help reduce the chances of interventions during labor and delivery aiding in a more mindful and calm birth experience.

This unique class also offers meditation techniques to help reduce anxieties and concerns, and teaches postures that also prepare and aid in labor and delivery of any type of birth.

All-Levels Iyengar

Iyengar Yoga was developed by B.K.S. Iyengar, who was born in 1918 and was a living master until his death in 2014. Iyengar Yoga emphasizes alignment and builds strength and mobility by linking poses in a safe and logical fashion. In this method, pranayama as well as the other families of poses (standing asanas, forward and back bends, twists and inversions) are taught. Classes and workshops are geared towards the level of each student, the goal being to practice yoga in a safe, comfortable and nurturing atmosphere. Props may be used to help students gain more freedom in the body and to make poses more accessible.

This class is for all levels of yoga. Carefully sequenced classes are taught in stages according to the student’s needs and levels of flexibility. Props are also used to help the students move more freely and more deeply into the poses. Modifications will be made for those working with physical challenges.

Align & Flow

Align & Flow blends the detail found in Iyengar Yoga with the flow and concentrated movement of Vinyasa Yoga. Each class begins with meditation and a focus on pranayama (breath work) as an invitation into the practice. We will explore the interplay of the body and breath together, focusing on strength and balance within the asanas using deep, long holds.

Morning Hatha Yoga

In this yoga practice, we will wake up and enjoy the morning together as we cleanse the body and purify the mind. As in traditional Hatha practice, we will practice breathing techniques, physical postures and meditation to balance out the solar and lunar sides of our bodies. Slowing down time, we will follow our breath to allow each posture to make its way into each individual. All you need is an open heart, a yoga mat, and an alarm clock to make it to this community-inspired yoga practice.

Flow, Restore, Reflect

Flow, Restore, Reflect is a 75-minute contemplative practice combing breath work, gentle movement, restorative postures, and guided reflection. Our time is an opportunity to use movement and stillness to explore the inner landscape and attune with your body, mind, and breath. Class will conclude with guided reflection and the unique opportunity to write or sketch. Journals welcomed! Materials provided.
